Certified Irlen Screener Training Course:
This two day certification course is open to professional Educators, Psychologists, Reading and Learning Specialists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Counselors and Tutors. Credentials and a formal resume must be submitted with your application, to be reviewed and accepted prior to enrolment.
This course combines information, demonstration and a practicum experience.
In this two day course you will learn:
- How to identify individuals with Irlen Syndrome / Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome (SSS)
- The common learning and behavioural characteristics of individuals with Irlen Syndrome / SSS
- How visual perception affects reading, spelling, mathematics, copying and concentration
- How visual perception can affect depth perception and sensory integration
- How to test using the Irlen Reading Perceptual Scale (IRPS) assessment tool
- A variety of intervention strategies including the use of Irlen coloured overlays
- Hands-on practice using the IRPS method
- Research on Irlen Syndrome / SSS from around the world
Upon successful completion, participants will be certified through the Irlen® Institute to identify Irlen Syndrome / Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome and properly prescribe Irlen® Spectral Overlays for stage one remediation.
Participants will become competent in assessing and determining the severity of Irlen Syndrome / SSS and whom to refer to for the next comprehensive diagnostic assessment, the Irlen® Spectral Filter Lens Tint assessment.

Irlen® P.A.S.S. Training Course:
This is a three hour professional development seminar providing an introduction to Irlen® Syndrome / Scotopic Sensitivity Syndrome. Participants will be trained in the Pre-Assessment for Scotopic Sensitivity (P.A.S.S.) test and a discussion regarding diagnosis and remediation techniques for academic, private practice and work settings will be included. The P.A.S.S. test can be administered in less than 10 minutes and will verify if there is a need for further testing with a formal Irlen® Screening Assesssment. P.A.S.S. testers do not work with Irlen® Spectral Overlay Filters.
